Paintings, sculptures, photographs, prints, decorative objects, furniture, models and even prehistoric ruins are part of the permanent collection. The set dedicated to the French Revolution stands out, which is a real treasure.
Also very interesting is the collection of signs to identify shops and houses, since before that there were no street numbers.
Some rooms are open alternately. The calendar is published daily at the museum reception.
The Musée Carnavalet is closed for renovation until the end of 2019.
The Musée Carnavalet, in the Marais, very close to the Place des Vosges, is a very pleasant surprise.
Specially created to tell the story of Paris, the collection excites: from archaeological discoveries to the current century, you leave there really knowing a little more about the City of Light.
