If the idea is visit Giverny on your own, some tips are very important to prepare your tour:
-If you can, choose the first train schedules departing from Paris to Vernon. You can check the timetable and buy your ticket by the Rail Europe website or SNCF. Consult both sites. On the Rail Europe site you buy and print your ticket and there is a telephone number to change the tickets issued. But it is worth checking the values of the service charges, and if you have all the promotions offered by the public railway company of France, the SNCF.
There are several trains departing from Paris Saint-Lazare station to Vernon (you get off of at Giverny Station) at 2-hour intervals. There are trains with departure time of 7:18, 8:19, 10:19 and so on. Be careful to look for the trains that make the direct route. The trip to Giverny is about 50 min (direct trains - INTERCITES).
When you get off at Vernon Station, just ahead, close to station area, and where almost everyone is going walking, there are the buses that take to Giverny. Bus schedules are synchronized with train arrivals. Everything is very practical. Other options for this 7 km between Vernon and Giverny are: taxi, bike or walk.
Giverny and Foundation Claude Monet
84 Rue Claude Monet, 27620 Giverny
The Claude Monet Foundation in Giverny is just a few minutes by bus from Vernon train station. As soon as you get to Giverny, when you get off the bus, you will see signs indicating the way to the Claude Monet Foundation.
When I arrived in Giverny, I soon fell in love with the village, but I went straight to the Monet Foundation and there I began to visit the two gardens - Clos Norman and the Water Garden. Why? because it was the beautiful sunny day. In this case, every hour, more people are coming to visit the place. Yes, sunny days, especially in spring and summer, are the most inviting, but also with more tourists.
if you get there early, you can do a pleasant visit. You will enjoy the beauty of the outdoor area, stroll around the gardens, sit on the benches and perhaps, you can take pictures of Japanese bridge empty, or almost empty...
