TGV, THA, EST, IC: they are faster trains and, in general, with less stops
RER, TER: are regional trains, in general, slower with more stops; you can use your ticket for a period of time and do not have to pay to reserve your place. You can also choose any timetables, provided your option has been by regional trains.

Imponent and copied worldwide, the Château de Versailles (1) is famous not only by the main castle and its other beautiful buildings, but also by its magnificent woods with plenty of flowers, statues, lakes and fountains.

Precious architecture, museums (including The Musée de Chevel), lovely gardens, besides the delicious cream of the same name, turns Château de Chantilly (7) into an unforgetable trip.

Train TER - Length of trip: 25 minutes. From Chantilly-Gouvieux station it is possible to walk to the castle on foot
(about 20 minutes), by taxi or by DUC (Desserte Urbaine Cantilienne) which is free of charge and goes from the Chantilly-Gouvieux station to the Chantilly stop, Notre-Dame church (it doesn't work on sunday).
Le Mans (8) is famous for the yearly marathon "Les Mans 24 hours", but it has much more to offer. The historical centre is well-preserved and has nice small medieval streets.

The largest castle in the "Vallée de la Loire", Le Château de Chambord (19), with its great architecture from Renaissance, has had several owners until lately being bought and artistically restored. Notice the well-known staircase in the middle of the palace.
